Accommodation alternatives

The arctic region around Kiruna is home to a number of “hidden gems” in terms of accommodation. Various fishing and hunting cabins, small mountain top hostels, luxury ski-resort hotels and high quality tourist villages constitute a wide pool of options with various comfort levels which we draw upon to create the exact experience you are looking for. More or less “civilization”, more or less “comfort”, more or less “wilderness”, all is up to you. But it will always be with excellent quality.

Sleeping comfort

We offer a wide range of accommodation alternatives, where you can choose from comfortable double beds in modern hotels and cabins, to simple benches in log cabins in the forest. Or perhaps you’d like to try a night in the world famous Jukkasjärvi Ice Hotel?

Depending on the time of your arrival to Kiruna, we either stay the first night in Kiruna, or at the Icehotel. The Icehotel offers accommodation in either modern cabins, a regular hotel room, or a suite in the Icehotel itself.

Excellent food

When you are our guest, you should enjoy the best also when it comes to food. Our tours are inclusive of all meals, and you will be impressed. Being in the land of the Sami people, the Laplanders, we of course eat a lot of reindeer meat. That is a delicacy all by itself, whether as a steak or as dried meat (jerky). But we may also feast on moose, bear, grouse, greyling and salmon trout as well as local berries. Lingonberries, blueberries and “Hjortron” (Cloudberries) from this region is something completely different to what you might be used to from your mass market general stores. One of the “must-try” is the local waffle with cloudberry jam and whipped cream…

We always eat a rich breakfast, have coffe-breaks during the ride where we boil(!) the coffe over open fire, lunch typically prepared by your guides also over open fire (as the Sami people have done for hundreds of years), before we reach our destination where we typically eat a very high quality 3-5 course meal.

Gourmet food

Without exception, you will eat gourmet food. Sometimes on white linen, sometimes outside by an open fire, but always unbelievably tasty. Reindeer of course. Elk/moose. Bear. Fowl.

Cold drinks

Irrespective if you stay in the Icehotel itself, in the cabins at the Icehotel compound, or we just stop by for a visit, you will of course have a full tour of the Icehotel and its rooms, as well as have the opportunity to enjoy a drink in the famous Icehotel ice-bar.

And everywhere we go, there is a sauna. And with the sauna goes the ice cold sauna beer…

Sauna

As a natural part of the Nordic culture, the sauna has its everyday place on our tours. It is a tradition, combining wellness and cleanliness, heat and relaxation. Saunas are literally everywhere, and are either woodfired or electric. Always with plenty of steam, and always with ample refreshing snow right outside the doorstep! Rolling in the snow is a “must”, and much more pleasant than you might think before trying. Saunas are typically mixed, but some locations have dual saunas, offering a choice.
